Design Values: A Philosophy That Drives Us Forward
Habits and Beliefs as the Building Blocks of Personality
We are all made up of habits and beliefs that define our lives and work. They are like invisible threads connecting us to the world and each other.
I recently delved into the book "Atomic Habits," exploring the world of habits. One thought particularly struck me: "Habits shape a person's personality." Consider, for example, the habit of running every morning. It's not just a way to maintain physical fitness. It's a statement about who you are, about your commitment to health, discipline, and growth. This habit, like many others, shapes you as a person.
But what else makes us individuals? It's our values and beliefs. They are like a compass, pointing us in the right direction. Some of us will never run a red light because we believe in the importance of safety. Others choose a calm and persuasive way of communicating because they believe in the power of kindness and respect.
These habits and beliefs together influence every aspect of our lives. They determine how we act, how we think, how we interact with the world around us. They can even change our lives if we decide to change them. Coaches, working with businessmen, often focus on changing beliefs to achieve positive changes in life and career.
Design Values: The Core of Our Team
I have prepared a list of beliefs that must be present in the design team to move forward. When any of teammates stray from the path of correct beliefs, team remind each other what we all believe in.
#1 Design is Awesome
#2 We Prioritize Users and Business
#3 We Use Design to Tell Stories
#4 We Are Not Afraid to Experiment
#5 We Strive to Learn and Improve as a Team
#6 We Research and Analyze Data
#7 We Strive to Be Positive Changemakers
#8 We Take Ownership of Our Work
#9 Radical Honesty
Live Your Beliefs
These nine beliefs are not just words on paper. They live within us and our work. They guide us, inspire us, and unite us in our quest to create something amazing. They make us who we are and define how we impact the world around us. They are our compass, our map, our way forward.
